Drain Line Repair
On Sunday, February 23, there was a major drain line that came loose and caused a bad leak that appeared in the Quails Nest. We hired an outside plumber to come in and repair the plumbing and all seemed fine. The next Friday, the same thing happened in a different pipe in that area. We determined that the pump that pushed water out of the Quails Nest was pressurizing and blowing the pipe apart as somewhere down the line there was an intermittent major blockage. When we ran the camera down the pipe, we found that it disappeared into rock – about where the large hole in front of the Manor was. When we dug the initial small hole, we found that the elbow where it turned down to the main storm drain was broken. Further digging showed that the 8” line dropping down 23 feet to the storm drain was full of packed rock and dirt. We attempted to vacuum out the line, but after several attempts we decided to look at other options. We then were alerted of several other drains in the building backing up so we sent a camera down the main storm drain near the Health Center that went back up towards the Manor. We found that the main line 23 feet underground was also 80% plugged. At that point we were left with no other option but to begin digging to find and replace that section of main drain line. A large steel structure was erected and placed in the hole to protect workers from a cave in and then removed when the repairs were complete. All should be back to normal in that area by March 14, and we appreciate everyone’s patience during this necessary event. If you have questions or concerns please call Jim at x7199.
